Replacing the greenhouse gas SF6 in high-voltage circuit breakers with a clean alternative is critical as the U.S. looks to upgrade its aging electrical infrastructure. The Department of Energy recently awarded nearly $4 million to a team of researchers from Georgia Tech to lead the charge.
On one of the hottest days this month, students from Georgia Tech and Spelman College tracked the temperature every few seconds from Atlanta's streets. The effort is part of UrbanHeatATL, a project that is mapping temperature variations across the city.
Starting this fall and continuing through Spring 2023, participants will take part in leadership development activities, including a fall weekend workshop, monthly workshops, group work, and a 360-degree assessment.
