Happy Birthday, Georgia Tech
On Oct. 13, 1885, the Georgia Legislature passed a bill appropriating $65,000 to found a technical school. Three years later, the Georgia School of Technology opened its doors to 84 students. The School’s creation signaled the beginning of the transformation of the agrarian South to an industrial economy. One hundred and thirty-five years later, Georgia Tech remains committed to the ideals of progress and service.
