Homecoming Highlight
The Cake Race
In 1911, the first Cake Race was held as an open cross-country run. Two years later, some of the faculty members' wives started baking cakes for the winners, and so it became the Cake Race. The event became part of Homecoming in 1935. Today, all runners receive cupcakes, and all first-year students are invited to run. This year's event begins at 6 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 13.
